The VanHooseCo L-Wall is a patented retaining and screen wall system based on the design of a traditional gravity wall, but with the advantages of quick installation, lower costs and higher quality. The L-Wall gives clients the ability to have a poured concrete wall finished in just days.
As soon as the wall is installed, it can be backfilled with surcharges up to 45 degrees, including parking surcharges, without special backfill requirements like other precast options. Form liners can be used or natural products like stone or a brick veneer can be added after installation. The L-Wall can also be used in areas where space is limited. Since there are no special backfill requirements behind the L-Wall, it can be placed extremely close to a boundary. Large poured-in-place footers are not required, which reduces construction limits as well as excavation costs. Once grading has been completed, the only footing required is a 6” stone pad with a 6” concrete setting slab that is poured in place. The following day, the L-Wall units can be placed on the slab with grout poured between the footers to fill the voids and “lock” it to the slab. Next, waterproofing strips are placed along the joints between the walls, along the back side. A drain line is added along with a small amount of stone for drainage. The wall is now ready for backfill, with the entire process taking less than a week.
